What is District Energy?

District energy systems produce steam, hot water, or chilled water at a central plant which is then piped underground to individual buildings for the needs of their tenants. Individual buildings served by district energy don’t need their own boilers, furnaces, or air conditioners, which provides cost saving benefits to the end user.
